2005 Summit Summary
Jefferson City’s Truman Hotel was the site
for the Missouri End-of-Life Coalition’s Second Annual Policy
Summit on August 25 where legislators, policymakers, healthcare
providers, lawyers,
educators, and advocates gathered to hear Attorney General Jay
Nixon and Bill Colby, lawyer for the Nancy Cruzan family, speak
about issues faced by individuals and families at the end of life.
The Cruzan case is the only right-to-die case ever heard by the
U. S. Supreme Court. The more than 120 participants also heard
experts in the fields of pain, communication, and nutrition/hydration.

The Missouri End-of-Life Coalition
honored their 2006 award winners: Clay Anderson, M. D., past
president and one of the founders of the Coalition, Coalition
Chair Debbie Oliver (Columbia) in
recognition of her
more than two years of service as Chair of the Coalition; Jan Schupp
(Jefferson City), Consumer Advocate Award; and State Representative
Mark Bruns (Jefferson City), Distinguished Service Award. |
