- 10:00 Hospice Services in a Maximum Security Prison - Deloise Williams, RN, BSN, Assistant Director/Health Services; Leon Vickers,RN, CCHP, Health Service Administrator - JCCC ; and Ralf Salke, CCHPA, Vice President of Operations, Correctional Medical Services, Missouri Department of Corrections.
- 11:00 Department of Mental Health Approach to End-of-Life Issues -Joe Parks, M.D., Director of the Division of Comprehensive Psychiatric Services and Chief Clinical Officer, Missouri Department of Mental Health.

- 1:00 How to Implement the New Out-of-Hospital Do Not Resuscitate Order Rule—19 CSR 30-40.600. The new purple Physician’s Order Cards and the personal identifiers (i.e., OH DNR bracelets, necklaces, and wallet cards) will be displayed and modeled. Example policies and procedures will be made available. Training will be provided as coordinated by the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.

- 3 p.m. Health Care Surrogacy in the 2010 Assembly. John G. Carney, moderator-Legislation authorizing surrogates to make decisions for incapacitated persons without guardians or agents under DPOA’s will be introduced in the Missouri Assembly in 2010. Sponsors and advocates will present their rationale along with the national uniform health care decisions code recommendation, sample legislative language, and an examination of HB 196 considered in 2009. Presenters will compare and contrast how more than three dozen states nationwide deal with the issue. .Attendees will be asked to offer suggestions and strategies for successful passage. Representative Ellen Brandom, the lead sponsor in last year’s session, and other legislators are expected to attend.
- 4:00 – 4:30 Summary Remarks and Reflections- John G. Carney, moderator - Panelists will offer Summary Remarks and reflections with audience participation.
